NRMA Insurance introduces Help Nation Preparedness Month
More than 300,000 preparedness actions driven by Help Nation initiative
NRMA Insurance is launching Help Nation Preparedness Month this October to encourage and help communities take action to prepare for extreme weather through community events and workshops, helpful resources and educational content.
The preparedness month forms part of NRMA Insurance's Help Nation initiative, launched in November 2023, with the ambition to unite Australians to know their local risks and prepare for extreme weather. To date, Help Nation has led to more than 300,000 people taking action to prepare for extreme weather.
NRMA Insurance community partners Australian Red Cross, Lifeline Australia, NSW Rural Fire Service and South Australian State Emergency Service (SA SES) have all joined Help Nation, working in collaboration with NRMA Insurance on initiatives to drive preparedness education.
The program of activity is being scaled-up across the country throughout October as Australia enters the start of the severe weather season.
NRMA Insurance Chief Customer and Marketing Office Michelle Klein said: "With extreme weather becoming more frequent and severe, it's increasingly important for Australians to have a good understanding of their local weather risks and what steps they can take to get prepared.
Our research shows more than 1 in 3 Australians don't feel prepared to respond to severe weather. Through Help Nation we want to help reduce that number so that even more Australian communities are better prepared and resilient in the face of these eventsMichelle Klein

"As part of Help Nation Preparedness Month NRMA Insurance NSW branches will give away complimentary solar torches, which is an important item for inclusion in your at-home emergency kit."
In addition to on-the-ground community events and workshops Help Nation and its Preparedness Month is being amplified through NRMA Insurance's partnership with Nine via Initiative Media, across broadcast television, radio, BVOD and dynamically targeted digital audio and display.
NRMA Insurance will launch a scaled educational content video series on YouTube, providing quick and helpful advice on simple actions you can take to prepare your home for extreme weather.
NRMA Insurance has also introduced Home Health Check, providing tips, advice and checklists to help customers learn why home maintenance matters for your insurance and how you can help protect your home.
Ms Klein said: "Bringing together expertise across multiple parts of our business is unlocking new ways we can engage with and support our customers year-round. As an insurer, we're here to help when the unexpected happens but we also strive to deliver value across the customer journey, and we know that educating and empowering customers on how they can minimise their risks is a key way we can help."
