Police have arrested a man and recovered five stolen firearms after a public appeal on the Far South Coast, NSW Police say.
Sometime between Friday 5 August 2016 and Tuesday 16 August 2016, a shed on a property at South Wolumla, south of Bega, was broken into and five registered firearms and ammunition were stolen.
The weapons included a Rossi side by side double barrel 12 gauge shotgun, a Winchester 30-30 calibre rifle, a Norica .22 calibre rifle, a Howa 270 calibre rifle and an Iver Johnson .22 calibre rifle.
Officers from Far South Coast Local Area Command made a public appeal for assistance yesterday morning yesterday, resulting in a number of people coming forward with information.
Police attended two properties at Candelo yesterday afternoon, recovering four of the firearms and two boxes of ammunition.
A fifth firearm was located today in bushland east of Candelo.
A 19-year-old man was arrested and charged with a number of firearm offences as well as possess ammunition, and larceny.
He was refused bail to appear at Batemans Bay Local Court tomorrow.
Inquiries into the incident are continuing.
