A man has been charged after two women were allegedly attacked with a machete at Lake Conjola last night, NSW Police say.
Shortly after 9pm yesterday, emergency services were called to a caravan park in Lake Conjola, after reports of two women being injured.
Police found a 25-year-old woman suffering cuts to her buttocks, legs, arms and head. A 37-year-old woman suffered wounds to her head and hands.
Both women were treated at the campsite before being taken to Shoalhaven Hospital. The younger woman has now been taken to Wollongong Hospital for further treatment.
Acting on information obtained from the scene, police from Shoalhaven Local Area Command initiated a pursuit with a white Nissan Elgrand van travelling north on the Princes Highway, Tomerong, about 9.20pm.
The pursuit was terminated a short time later due to safety concerns.
About 9.40pm, officers located the vehicle crashed into a tree on the Princes Highway at Nowra Hill.
The driver, a 31-year-old man, was treated at the scene before being taken to Shoalhaven Hospital with internal injuries. He was later transferred to St George Hospital for further treatment.
The man was subsequently charged with nine offences including:
- Cause wounding with intent to murder;
- Wound person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm (x2);
- Breach apprehended violence order (DV) (x3);
- Drive recklessly or speed in a dangerous manner;
- Police pursuit; and,
- Use carriage service to threaten to kill.
He was bail refused at a bed side hearing today to appear at Sutherland Local Court tomorrow.
