Nationals Candidate for Calare Sam Farraway has welcomed the introduction of legislation by Shadow Minister for the Environment Jonathan Duniam to overturn Labor's decision to halt the Blayney Gold Mine project.
Mr Farraway said the unnecessary and harmful decision by the Labor Government has caused significant disruption to the Central West community and undermined the confidence of investors in Australia's mining sector.
"The Blayney Gold Mine project has undergone rigorous environmental and cultural heritage assessments at both state and federal levels. These assessments have consistently demonstrated that the project can proceed without causing any harm to the environment or Aboriginal cultural heritage," Mr Farraway said.
"The passage of this Bill would not only benefit the local Blayney community by creating 800 good paying jobs and boosting the economy but will also send a strong message to investors that NSW remains a stable and attractive destination for mining projects.
"I am urging all members of Parliament to back the Blayney community," Mr Farraway said.
