Police have release CCTV images and are appealing for public assistance as investigations continue into an attempted armed robbery at Murwillumbah earlier this week.
About 2.50pm on Tuesday (24 October 2023), police were called to a service station on Tweed Valley Way, Murwillumbah, following reports of an attempted armed robbery.
At the scene, officers were told that a man had entered the store and produced a firearm before threatening staff and firing a shot into the ceiling.
No one was injured, and the man fled empty-handed in a white Holden utility.
A short time later, police attempted to stop the Holden on Byangum Road.
When it failed to stop as directed, a pursuit was initiated; however, was terminated shortly after for safety reasons.

As those inquiries continue, police have released CCTV images of a man and vehicle they believe can assist with their investigation.
The man depicted is shown wearing a white shirt with a black chest motif, black pants, blue face mask, a red Coca-Cola bucket hat, and white 'Nike' sneakers.
The vehicle - a white Holden Colorado utility with no licence plates - appears to have damage to the front left-hand side wheel-arch.
