Criminal Groups Squad detectives have charged a man following an alleged physical altercation at a Parklea correctional facility this week.
Just after 9.30am on Wednesday 12 June 2024, police were called to a correctional facility at Parklea, after reports of an altercation.
Officers from Riverstone Police Area Command attended and were told that a 27-year-old inmate had reportedly been assaulted by a visitor.
A 31-year-old man was detained by correctives officers before being interviewed by police and released.
Detectives from State Crime Command's Criminal Groups Squad launched an investigation into the incident.
Following inquiries officers attached to State Crime Command's Raptor Squad arrested the 31-year-old man on Elara Boulevard, Marsden Park, about 7.40pm yesterday (Thursday 13 June 2024).
He was taken to Mt Druitt Police Station where he was charged with affray.
The man has been refused bail to appear before Mt Druitt Local Court today (Friday 14 June 2024).
Investigations into this incident continue.
