Police are appealing for information as investigations continue into two suspicious house fires in Wilcannia earlier this year.
About 1am on Sunday 14 January 2024, emergency services were called to Hood Street, Wilcannia, following reports of a house well alight. Despite efforts, the house was destroyed.
In another incident, emergency services responded to a home on Bourke Street, Wilcannia, following reports of a fire, about 11.10pm on Tuesday 6 February 2024.
The Rural Fire Service attended and extinguished the fires; however, it, too, was destroyed.
The homes were unoccupied at the time of the fires and no injuries were reported.
Officers attached to Barrier Police District have commenced investigations into the circumstances surrounding the fires, which they are treating as suspicious.
