The Blue Mountains community is invited to learn more about planned upgrades to the Blue Mountains ANZAC Memorial District Hospital which will enhance hospital facilities and support contemporary patient care.
The Minns Labor Government is investing $25 million to deliver essential improvements to key hospital services and infrastructure while supporting early planning for a future hospital redevelopment.
The hospital upgrades have been identified through consultation with hospital staff and clinicians, and will provide an improved experience for patients, staff, and visitors by enhancing key areas within the hospital and improving patient flow.
Upgrades to existing hospital facilities are expected to include:
- the Emergency Department
- Ambulatory Care services
- inpatient areas
- Central Sterilising Services Department; and
- Building improvements, including the roof, air conditioning and lift access.
Work is currently under way to upgrade the roof and Central Sterilising Services at the hospital.

Construction timeframes for the remaining upgrades will be confirmed once planning and design is finalised and a building contractor has been appointed.
All works are being carefully planned to minimise the impact of construction on patients, staff, and visitors.
Planning is also underway for a future Blue Mountains Hospital redevelopment, with a lead design team appointed to progress early site investigations and user group discussions with local clinicians.
