NT Commemorates National Police Remembrance Day

NT Government

Today, on National Police Remembrance Day we honour our fallen police officers who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty, and to stand in solidarity with their families and our current serving members.

"This a day for Territorians to pause to honour officers whose lives have been lost while performing their duty," Chief Minister Lia Finocchiaro said.

National Police Remembrance Day commemorates police officers throughout Australasia and the South-West Pacific region, who have been killed in the line of duty or died while serving.

It is also a time to remember police officers who have lost their lives through illness, or other circumstances.

"Our police do a dangerous job serving our community and I encourage Territorians to reflect and remember those police who lost their lives," Mrs Finocchiaro said.

In support of this important day, police stations and iconic buildings across the Territory, including Parliament House, will be lit up in blue.

They will never be forgotten.
