The Territory Labor Government is continuing to invest in supporting victim-survivors of domestic, sexual and family violence through the Amplifying Voices program.
The program engages Territorians who have experienced domestic, family and sexual violence to exercise their lived experience to lead advocacy and influence systems reforms through primary prevention activities across the Territory.
The Amplifying Voices program has been co-designed by six women with lived experience with input from seven professional advocates and experts.
The program offers 12 training sessions preparing participants to advocate and has been designed by victim-survivors, for victim-survivors.
This week, 11 participants completed the program and will now begin their advocacy work.
The program launched in late 2022 and is supported by the Territory Labor Government through a $525,000 grant to allow the program to run for three years.
The Territory Labor Government has delivered a $70 million investment for DFSV services in Budget 2024.
The investment covers initiatives aimed to prevent and respond to DFSV including reforms in health, justice, policing, support for people who are using violence to change their behaviour, and reducing the impacts of violence on victim survivors, including children.
Addressing DFSV requires long term commitment and generational change. DFSV is preventable when we work together, and put the safety of women and children at the centre.
The Government remains committed to maintain our upwards trajectory when it comes to increasing resourcing to domestic, family and sexual violence responses, in accordance with our approach since coming to Government.
