Police can confirm one person has sadly died following a multi-vehicle crash on SH1 at Lichfield, south of Putaruru.
The crash, involving a car, a campervan and a milk tanker, was reported to emergency services just after 9.20pm.
One person in the car died at the scene. Two other people were transported to hospital with serious injuries.
The road is now open.
