OAS Council Preps Secretary Vote, Talks Democracy Charter

The Permanent Council of the Organization of American States (OAS) will hold two meetings on Wednesday, February 5, in the Simón Bolívar Room at OAS headquarters in Washington, D.C.

At 09:30 EST (14:30 GMT), the Council will meet to consider, among other topics, the proposal for "Guidelines for the Presentation of Candidates for the Post of Secretary General of the Organization of American States" and the "Drawing of lots to determine the order of the statements of the candidates for the post of Secretary General of the OAS at the special meeting of the Permanent Council to be held on Monday, February 10, 2025."

Later, at 14:30 EST (19:30 GMT), the Council will hold a special meeting to analyze the "Implementation of all aspects of the Inter-American Democratic Charter and its challenges, including the role of misinformation and disinformation."
