OAS Council to Debate Inter-American Democratic Charter Challenges

The Permanent Council of the Organization of American States (OAS) will hold a special meeting on Wednesday, May 22 at 10:00 EDT (14:00 GMT) in the Simon Bolivar room at OAS headquarters in Washington, DC., to discuss "The Implementation of all aspects of the Inter-American Democratic Charter and its Challenges."

The meeting takes place at the request of the Voluntary Group for the Follow-up to the Inter-American Democratic Charter, integrated by the Permanent Missions of Antigua and Barbuda, Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Grenada, Guatemala, Mexico, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Suriname, the United States, and Uruguay.
