OAS Earns Knowledge Management Certification in Colombia

OAS

The Mission to Support the Peace Process of the Organization of American States (MAPP/OAS) has been awarded the ISO 30401:2019 international certification in knowledge management. This recognition, granted on December 27, 2024, by the Mexican certification body NEMT REGISTER, establishes the Mission as a global standard for other peace missions.

The certification confirms the MAPP/OAS's ability to effectively manage, share, and apply the knowledge generated throughout its activities. With over 20 years of work in Colombia, the Mission has built a valuable repository of information based on its close collaboration with communities and government entities across various regions, contributing to the strategic and efficient strengthening of peace initiatives in the country.

"This system enhances our operations, improves decision-making, and consolidates MAPP/OAS as a reference point for supporting peace policies in Colombia," said Roberto Menéndez, Head of the Mission.

Looking ahead, MAPP/OAS will continue developing its Knowledge Management System through staff training and the creation of strategic alliances. Additionally, it will share best practices and lessons learned during this process with other OAS departments, fostering similar initiatives.

The Organization of American States extends its gratitude to Colombian institutions, civil society, and the international community for their unwavering support. This collaboration has been key to enabling MAPP/OAS to continue making significant contributions to peacebuilding in Colombia.
