An off-duty police officer has been charged with drink driving after being arrested on the state's far south coast.
Just before 7.30pm last night (Thursday 17 October 2024), police stopped a Holden utility on Kerrisons Lane, Bega, for the purpose of a random breath test.
The driver, a 43-year-old man, was arrested after allegedly returning a positive reading.
He was taken to Bega Police Station, where a breath analysis returned an alleged reading of 0.073.
The man – a senior constable attached to a Southern Region command - was charged with drive with low range PCA. His licence was also suspended.
He is expected to appear at Bega Local Court on Tuesday 29 October 2024.
The officer's employment status is under review.
