Get ready to jump on your bike, with Council developing an off-road Bike Skills Track for local young people in Spring Farm.
The $20,000 Bike Skills Track will be developed for beginners to learn and practice their skills after a number of unapproved tracks were created by mountain bike enthusiasts across the Camden area.
Mayor of Camden, Cr Therese Fedeli, said it was important for the community to have their say on the creation of the track with a community consultation scheduled at the end of this month.
"Council is focused on providing its residents with opportunities to live, work and play close to home," Cr Fedeli said.
"While residents creating their own bike tracks are at times unsafe, Council has the ability to look at options to make a safe track for the whole community to enjoy.
"Mountain biking is also an Olympic sport and it would be fantastic to one day have a local athlete representing Australia in the future.
"I encourage local riders to have their say at the upcoming community consultation."
The track will be located at Springs Lake off Burrell Road in Spring Farm as a pilot space for young people to develop their skills in a natural environment.
Community consultation will be held on Tuesday 30 August, 4.30-5.30pm at the Springs Lake site, Burrell Road at Riverside Park.
