Officer Charged - Central Metropolitan Region 17 October

A police officer has been charged following an investigation into an alleged assault in Sydney's Inner West last month.

Following an incident at Stanmore on Saturday 21 September 2024 involving a 55-year-old off-duty police officer, the Professional Standards Command established Strike Force Swanage to investigate an alleged assault.

Following inquiries, the superintendent - attached to the Central Metropolitan Region - was issued a court attendance notice today (Thursday 17 October 2024), for three counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

Police will allege in court that the man assaulted two males, aged 18 and 21.

He is due to appear at Downing Centre Local Court on Thursday 5 December 2024.

The officer's employment status is under review.
