Officer Charged - Central Metropolitan Region 19 February

A police officer has been charged following an alleged sexual assault in Sydney's south.

In September 2023, officers attached to Professional Standards Command began an investigation after police received a report a woman had been allegedly sexually assaulted at a home in Cronulla by a man she met at a hotel on Saturday 16 September 2023.

The woman reported the alleged assault to police on Sunday 17 September 2023 and officers attached to Sutherland Police Area Command established a crime scene at the Cronulla home.

Following an investigation, a 25-year-old man – attached to a Central Metropolitan Region command – was arrested at a home in Dulwich Hill on Wednesday 19 February 2025.

The constable was taken to Newtown Police Station and charged with two counts of sexual intercourse without consent.

He was granted conditional bail to attended Newtown Local Court on Monday 14 April 2025.

The officer has been out of the workplace since November 2023.

His employment status is under review.
