Officer Charged - North West Metropolitan Region 19 December

A police officer has been charged with allegedly accessing child abuse material online.

In November 2024, officers attached to the Professional Standards Command established Strike Force Normanville, to investigate reports an officer was allegedly accessing child abuse material.

Following extensive inquiries, investigators executed search warrants at three premises yesterday (Wednesday 18 December 2024), seizing electronic devices.

A 28-year-old senior constable – attached to a command in the North West Metropolitan Region – was arrested at a home in Sydney's north west just after 9am.

The man was taken to Castle Hill Police Station and charged with use carriage service to access child abuse material.

He was granted conditional bail to appear before Parramatta Local Court on Wednesday 15 January 2025.

The officer's employment status is under review.
