Officer charged - South West Metropolitan Region 13 April

A police officer has been charged over the alleged online access of child abuse material.

An investigation commenced after NSW Police received information in November 2022, about child abuse material being accessed online.

Following inquiries, a 21-year-old man was arrested earlier today (Thursday 13 April 2023), by officers attached to the Professional Standards Command.

He was taken to Granville Police Station where he was charged with use carriage service to access child abuse material.

The constable – who is attached to a command in the South West Metropolitan Region – has been

granted conditional bail to appear before Parramatta Local Court on Tuesday 16 May 2023.

The officer's employment status is currently under review.
