Officer Charged - Southern Region 11 February

An off-duty police officer has been charged with high-range drink driving following a crash in Wollongong.

About 8.15pm on Tuesday (4 February 2025), police were called to reports of a single-vehicle crash on Memorial Drive, Bellambi.

Officers attached to Wollongong Police District attended and spoke to the driver – a 50-year-old woman – who was uninjured.

She was subject to a roadside breath test, returning a positive result.

The woman – who is a sergeant attached to a Southern Region command – was arrested and taken to Wollongong Police Station, where she was subject to a breath analysis and returned an alleged reading of 0.196. Her driver's licence was immediately suspended.

The woman was served with a future court attendance notice today (Tuesday 11 February 2025) for drive with high-range PCA.

She is due to appear before Wollongong Local Court on Tuesday 18 March 2025.

The officer's employment status is under review.
