A police officer has been charged after an alleged assault in Griffith last year.
Officers attached to Murrumbidgee Police District commenced an investigation in August 2024, into the alleged assault of a 25-year-old man during an arrest in Griffith on Saturday 24 August 2024.
Following extensive inquiries, a 35-year-old senior constable – attached to a command in the Southern Region – was issued a Court Attendance Notice charged with behave in offensive manner in public place, and two counts of common assault.
He is due to appear before Griffith Local Court on Wednesday 5 March 2025.
The officer's employment status is under review.
