Officers bitten by dog during arrest of wanted man - Revesby

Two officers have been taken to hospital after being bitten by a dog during the arrest of a man in Sydney's south today.

Following inquiries in relation to a man wanted on three outstanding warrants, police attended a house in Nina Street, Revesby, about 1.45pm (Tuesday 2 February 2021).

Officers attached to Bankstown Police Area Command found the 28-year-old man hiding within a wardrobe.

A struggle ensued between the man and police, with a woman, believed to be known to the man, hindering police.

During the struggle, two officers were bitten by a dog located at the premises. A female detective sergeant sustaining lacerations to her shin, thigh, chest and hand.

A male constable was bitten on the hand, sustaining lacerations.

The man ran from the house and into neighbouring properties. He was located by officers under a house in Dove Street.

He was arrested and taken to Bankstown Police Station. He was then taken to Bankstown Hospital due to minor injuries and remains under police guard.

The two officers were taken to Bankstown Hospital for treatment of their injuries. An elderly female resident at the house was also taken to hospital after being bitten by the dog.

The incident has been referred to the City of Canterbury-Bankstown Council.
