OISC Code Of Standards

The Office of the Immigration Services Commissioner's new Code of Standards has now been published.

The publication of the new Code - which sets the standards of conduct which are expected to be met by regulated advisers and regulated organisations - follows a consultation.

It aims for a less prescriptive, more principled-based regulatory approach with the necessary safeguards to ensure the OISC can take swift, fitting action against anyone who undermines the reputation and quality of advice and services within the immigration sector.

It is intended that the Code should meet the OISC's regulatory objectives, which are to:

  • promote good practice to immigration advisers
  • set standards for immigration advice and services
  • make sure those standards are upheld

The Code will come into effect on 1 September 2024. Up until that date, the existing 2016 Code will apply. Guidance
