We're proud to share that Olivia Way Playground has won first place at the Parks & Leisure Australia (VIC/TAS) Awards of Excellence.

The playground, which was completed late last year, was commended for its Hastings location, linking up to existing and new path networks making it wheelchair and pram friendly.

The playground design incorporates numerous elements of nature play, with a strong emphasis on accessibility and inclusivity. The entire playground, including the surrounding shelter and linking pathways, is designed for full accessibility, allowing everyone to enjoy the play area and shaded picnic spot.

The project was jointly funded by Mornington Peninsula Shire and the State Government, through a $247,000 Growing Suburbs Fund grant.

Quotes attributable to Mayor Councillor Simon Brooks:

"Olivia Way won in the Playgrounds under $500,000 category for Victoria and Tasmania. I was privileged to open this amazing local residential playground late last year. In October we're heading to Brisbane for the national awards, fingers crossed we'll take home that award too!"

Quotes attributable to Cerberus Councillor Lisa Dixon:

"So many local Hastings families have made good use of this playground, with feedback being overwhelmingly positive. There's a good variety of play equipment, a fun scooter track, lush lawns and sheltered picnic tables - the recipe for a fun and free day out!"
