An outlaw motorcycle gang (OMCG) member has been charged with drug offences, after he was detected allegedly breaching the current health orders in the state's Oxley district this week.
About 9.15am on Monday 6 September 2021, officers attached to the Oxley Police District stopped a Ford Falcon sedan travelling north on the New England Highway at Nemingha.
Officers spoke to the 26-year-old driver and it is alleged he was unable to provide a lawful reason for leaving his home. The man was issued with an infringement for not comply with noticed direction.
Later that day, officers stopped the same vehicle travelling south on the New England Highway at Moonbi. Police will allege the man told police he left his local government area to purchase lunch, in contravention to the current health orders.
Police searched the vehicle and allegedly located prohibited drugs which were seized for examination.
Following further inquiries officers attended a caravan park in Armidale Road, Tamworth about 3.45pm yesterday (Tuesday 7 September 2021) and served the 26-year-old man with a firearm and weapons prohibition order. Police also searched the residence and will allege they located prohibited drugs.
The man was arrested and taken to Tamworth Police Station. He was charged with supply prohibited drug, possess prohibited drug and not comply with noticed direction.
He was refused bail and appeared at Tamworth Local Court today (Wednesday 8 September 2021), where he was refused bail to appear at the same court on Tuesday 26 October 2021.
