Livingstone Park amenities
Preliminary design works are complete for the Livingstone Park toilet and shower amenities building.
The proposed design includes extending the existing building to house four showers and matching hot water system. A shower will also be added to the all ability access toilet / changeroom.
The existing toilets facilities will be upgraded to ensure all facilities are fully compliant to current standards.
Bike wash
A bike wash facility is proposed to be installed near the trail head area within Livingstone Park, near the existing toilet facilities and barbecue buildings.
The proposal (preliminary design works are complete) will include a semi-contained area with wash down facilities to allow bikes to be cleaned pre and post riding to reduce weed seed spread and clean bike transportation.
Trail building continues
It's been a steady few weeks from a trail building perspective, with a significant milestone being the completion of XC10 down and connecting back into the top of the trails in Livingstone Park. This means that trail construction on the XC10 loop is now complete, although a tricky gully crossing on the bottom of the climb needs to be finalising.
Some great shapes are coming together GR2 and progress is advancing on XC13 Up.
Excellent progress is being made on XC5 in the Oriental Claims and the crew has almost finished the outward leg along Dry Gully Creek.
Trail construction is underway on the northside of Connleys Road.
Visitation benefits flowing
Local reports indicate that the trails are creating visitation benefits. A couple of riders from Mallacoota recently visited this month, hired bikes locally, stayed three nights, ate out and bought fuel for the return drive. The sole intention of the visit was to experience the trials.
The riders admitted they were not experienced MTBers, but "Omeo had drawn them into it".
