ONE Subiaco has taken home two awards at the prestigious Property Council of Australia/ Rider Levett Bucknall Innovation & Excellence Awards at a Gala dinner in Sydney last night.
The Innovation & Excellence awards program, which is now in its 42nd year in partnership with Rider Levett Bucknall (RLB), highlights ground-breaking innovations and exceptional leadership in Australia's property industry.
The precinct rejuvenating project from Blackburne took home the Investa Award for Best Mixed Use Development and the Aqualand Award for Best Residential Development. This comes after taking home the RLB Western Australian Development of the Year last month.
Property Council WA Executive Director Nicola Brischetto said ONE Subiaco had raised the standard of apartment living across Western Australia.
"Since its opening, ONE Subiaco has been a catalyst for the revitalisation of Subiaco, attracting new residents and businesses into the inner-city suburb," Ms Brischetto said.
"The project has elevated the standard of apartment living and multi-purpose development across Western Australia.
"Congratulations to the entire Blackburne team for this well-deserving victory. These awards demonstrate to the nation what we already know here in WA, ONE Subiaco is one of the best places to live in Australia."
ONE Subiaco is a precinct defining 236-apartment mixed-use development in the heart of Subiaco that offers diverse and luxurious residential options along with retail and dining. This bold project has redefined high-density living, setting a benchmark for Subiaco, Perth and nationally.
The development has sparked the revitalisation of Subiaco, drawing residents and businesses back to the area. The ground floor's makeover introduced a new grocer and restaurants, bringing life the street frontages near Subiaco train station and boosting the local retail scene, with Blackburne having upgraded sewer infrastructure to support future growth of the area.
Built during the peak of the COVID-19 lockdown, the project was completed within weeks of the original deadline, demonstrating outstanding construction management and resilience.
Innovative features of the building like a high-speed fibre optic internet backbone, automated exterior screens for penthouse levels, and an embedded electrical network for private metering and discounted supply, helped to distinguish the project.
RLB WA Managing Director Mark Bendotti said the project's activation of the ground floor and surrounding areas contributes to the project's success and has played a pivotal role in revitalising the Subiaco town centre.
"This project is a perfect example of the power property has in creating great places for our communities," Mr Bendotti said.
"ONE Subiaco exemplifies a bold vision to revitalise the iconic but underutilised Subiaco markets site into a beautiful and luxurious apartment development with ground floor activation, topped with a signature gold screen that is visible throughout Perth," he said.
In collaboration with RLB since 1982, the prestigious awards have promoted excellence in design and innovation in the built environment. From eligible finalists, the winners were selected by a high calibre judging panel made up of 19 property specialists and chaired by Adrian Harrington.
