Over the past 10 days’ police in the south west of the state have executed 18 search warrants and charged 18 people on a total of 40 offences, as part of a drug operation code named Operation Cool Winds, Queensland Police say.
Detective Inspector Paul Hart, Crime and Support Services said Operation Cool Winds followed on from recent successful operations in the Surat and St George areas, with detectives continuing their efforts to detect and disrupt drug activity in the south west of the state.
Search warrants were executed in the towns of Cunnamulla, Quilpie, Thargomindah, Yowah and Charleville.
Three people were charged with supplying dangerous drugs, while other charges included possession of dangerous drugs, possession of drug utensils and six offences of drug driving.
Stolen property located at one premises led to an offender being charged with burglary.
"The seizures of ICE and cannabis resulting from the search warrants will help disrupt the supply of such drugs in our remote and rural locations.
"However, police acknowledge there is still a lot of work to be done in these areas to stamp out drugs in these communities and we encourage local residents to help their local police by reporting drug activities either to local police, or to Policelink or anonymously via Crime Stoppers.
