Operation Lasso At Sunshine Coast 25 July

Police have arrested seven people on 20 charges, as part of a road safety operation in the Glasshouse Mountains on Wednesday, July 24.

Operation Lasso was conducted by the Sunshine Coast Tactical Crime Squad on the Bruce Highway northbound between 8pm and 12am.

More than 650 roadside breath tests (RBT) were conducted during the four-hour period, and three motorists were caught driving over the legal blood alcohol limit.

16 infringement notices were issued, including for driving on a nature strip, failing to display P plates, defective vehicles, unregistered and unlicenced driving.

During the Operation, a 21-year-old North Lakes man was allegedly found in possession of a quantity of methylamphetamine and MDMA.

He has been charged with two counts of possess dangerous drugs and one count of possess things (mobile phone).

He has been issued a notice to appear before the Caloundra Magistrates Court on August 8.

A 24-year-old woman was also arrested after she allegedly drove dangerously through the RBT site in an attempt to evade police around 11pm.

POLAIR tracked the blue Toyota Corolla before a tyre deflation device was successfully deployed and the driver was taken into custody in Caboolture.

It will be alleged the car was travelling on the wrong side of the road and at speeds of up to 180km/hour before the driver was taken into custody.

A 24-year-old Mango Hill woman has been charged with multiple offences, including dangerous operation of a vehicle while adversely affected by an intoxicating substance, possess dangerous drugs, obstruct police and contravene direction by a police officer.

She is expected to appear before Maroochydore Magistrates Court on July 25.
