Police have this week closed an 11-month operation resulting in 55 people being charged with more than 200 drugs and weapon-related offences, Queensland Police say.
Operation Oscar Octave involved Detectives from the Sunshine Coast Criminal Investigation Branch with the assistance of police from other districts and targeted offences on Sunshine Coast as well as the Gold Coast, Toowoomba, Wynnum, Strathpine, Grandchester, Flinders View and Walloon areas.
The operation, which commenced in December 2015, was finalised on October 25 and resulted in:
- The arrest of 55 people on 202 charges, including 29 drug trafficking charges
- The seizure of dangerous drugs including methamphetamine, cannabis, MDMA, steroids, and pharmaceuticals.
- The seizure of over $300,000 in cash
- Weapons seizure including 8 hand guns, 5 sawn-off shotguns, and 46 long arms
- The recovery of property including vehicles, phones, computers, boats and motorcycles.
The majority of those charged will appear in Maroochydore Magistrates Court on November 7 and Noosa Magistrates Court on November 8.
