During the operation police want road users to think about the #Five2Arrive; five simple tips for road users in order to arrive home safely:
1. Don’t speed.
2. Don’t drink and drive
3. Wear a seatbelt
4. Put your phone away, and
5. Take regular breaks
The road toll currently stands at 372.
Assistant Commissioner Michael Corboy, Acting Commander of State’s Traffic & Highway Patrol Command was disappointed motorists are continuing to speed and take unnecessary risks on the state’s roads in the lead up to Christmas.
"Yesterday 1,431 motorists were caught speeding across the state, with 9,634 caught throughout Operation Safe Arrival so far," Assistant Commissioner Corboy said.
"It’s staggering that motorists are continuing to ignore our warnings and put their lives, and the lives of other road users, at significant risk."
