Western Region Police have conducted a three-day high-visibility operation proactively targeting alleged offenders in the Oxley Police District.
Between Thursday 2 January 2025 and Saturday 4 January 2025, officers attached to Oxley Police District conducted a high-visibility operation under Operation Surge, which is part of Operational Regional Mongoose, which was formed to target young offenders who commit break and enter offences and steal motor vehicles.

As part of Operation Surge, police arrested and charged two people, conducted nine person searches, five vehicle searches, 30 bail compliance checks, 8 Apprehended Domestic Violence Order checks, five firearm prohibition searches and seven business inspections.
Incidents of note include:
- On Thursday 2 January 2025, police arrested a 19-year-old man at Calala. He was taken to Tamworth Police Station where he was charged with two outstanding warrants in relation to domestic violence related offences. He was refused bail to appear in Parramatta Local Court on Friday 3 January 2025, where he was formally refused bail to appear at Tamworth Local Court on Tuesday 7 January 2025.
- On Friday 3 January 2025, police conducted a firearms prohibition order compliance check on a 20-year-old man at a unit in the township of Calala. During a search of the unit, police allegedly located a quantity of cocaine in clear resealable bags. The 20-year-old man was taken to Tamworth Police Station where he was charged with supply prohibited drug and two counts of possess prohibited drug. He was granted conditional bail to appear at Tamworth Local Court on Monday 3 February 2025.e in Boggabilla. He was taken to Boggabilla Police Station and charged by virtue of a Queensland warrant. He was refused bail to appear at Moree Local Court on Friday 4 October 2024.
- On Saturday 4 January 2025, police conducted a firearms prohibition order compliance check in a 21-year-old man at a house in the township of Premer. Police seized a gel blaster rifle, a sling shot, a quantity of ammunition and a small quantity of what police believe to be prohibited drugs. Police are making further inquiries in relation to the seized items.
