Tasmania Police's Operation SWIPE taskforce has been working hard in the lead up to Christmas, targeting shoplifting and anti-social offending across the Glenorchy municipality.
So far in December, a total of 74 people have been proceeded against with 453 charges.
This included:
• 37 people have been arrested
• Of those arrests, 18 were detained for court
• 36 people were summonsed
• 1 was issued a Youth Caution Action Notice
• 38 youths were charged with 280 offences.
• Of these youths, 8 were detained for court.
Inspector Jason Klug said that Tasmania Police would continue to work closely with the community to reduce offending.
"These patrols are about sending a message to the small percentage of people in our community who choose to do the wrong thing - illegal activities and anti-social behaviours will not be tolerated by police."
