Police are appealing for public assistance, on the three-year anniversary of the death of twin boys in Bungalow in 2021.

On the morning of December 13 2021, emergency services were called to a Joan Street address following reports two male infants were unresponsive in the bedroom of the home.

The twins, who were subject to special needs care, were unable to be revived and both were declared deceased at the scene.

Following new information that has been provided to police, the deaths are being treated as suspicious.

Investigations into this matter have continued over the past three years, and police are now urging anyone with information to come forward.

Detective Sergeant Barry Karamujic from the Cairns Child Protection and Investigation Unit said these deaths had long lasting effects on the community.

"Three years later, this tragedy has not been forgotten by the friends and family of these three-month old boys," Detective Sergeant Karamujic said.

"Someone, somewhere, knows something, and we are urging anyone who could assist us with this protracted investigation, to come forward now."
