Operation Whiskey Curve, South Brisbane

A five-day operation in Brisbane's south has resulted in 13 people charged with a total of 24 charges, mostly traffic, drug and property offences.

Between July 24 and 28, police conducted 96 roadside breath tests and 105 proactive activities including wanding operations, bail compliance and street checks in multiple locations including Acacia Ridge, Calamvale, Chelmer, Darra, Graceville, Inala, Mount Ommaney, Oxley and Pallara.

Operation Whiskey Curve is a bi-monthly operation designed to enhance community safety through the delivery of various policing activities. These activities included extreme hi-visibility patrols targeting crime hot spots and high-risk offenders, road safety initiatives, bail compliance and community engagement.

Aiming to support community safety, local police alongside the Tactical Crime Squad with support from specialist units including Child Protection and Investigation Unit, Criminal Investigation Branch, the Youth Co-Responder Team, Dog Squad and Highway Patrol work closely to co-ordinate targeted operations aiming to disrupt, prevent and investigate offending.

Acting Inspector of Centenary Patrol Group Stephen Gough said the ongoing operation helped saturate problem areas with a high police presence.

"From road safety to knife crime, our local police are working hard to keep the community safe.

"Bringing together expert local knowledge and specialist police resources means we look at crime from every angle, from targeting recidivist offenders to bail compliance, wanding operations, traffic operations and proactive patrols.

"This allows us to give our local communities the support they need to feel safe and be safe."
