Optus strengthens coverage in Hill River South

Optus switches on tower in Hill River South, enhancing mobile coverage for local households and businesses

Optus has switched on a new tower in Hill River South as part of the Australian Governments Mobile Black Spot Program.

The macrocell site will provide enhanced mobile coverage to over 40 local premises, with 400 square kilometres covered and over 63 kilometres of major roads including sections of Munbinea Road.

Lambo Kanagaratnam, Vice President of Networks said Optus is pleased to provide the local community with greater mobile competition and choice and access to reliable mobile coverage and mobile data download speeds.

This tower will provide our customers with enhanced connectivity while living in, working in, and driving through the region and were proud to offer them much-needed access to our 4G service," he said.

The Hill River South tower will also allow competition and choice for local businesses and residents by offering our best network at a great value.

The investment in expanding Optus telecommunications infrastructure and mobile coverage is also supported by the Australian Governments Mobile Black Spot Program.

ABOUT THE MOBILE BLACK SPOT PROGRAM

The Government has committed $380 million to the Mobile Black Spot Program (the Program) to invest in telecommunications infrastructure to improve mobile coverage and competition across Australia.

The Program is supported by co-contributions from state and local governments, mobile network operators, businesses, and local communities.
