Optus today announced it will continue to improve mobile coverage in Bendigo after switching on a new mobile tower in Jackass Flat.
The new tower will address a known black spot identified by the local community, providing residents and visitors with dedicated 4G mobile coverage to make and receive calls, texts and access mobile data.
Optus Territory General Manager for North West Victoria, Luke Dietz said, the site will not only improve coverage for those in Jackass Flat but also provide new and improved coverage for those residents in Canterbury Estate and the new Evergreen Waters Estate.
Optus remains committed to providing fast and reliable mobile and internet coverage across Bendigo, said Mr Dietz.
Over the last 12-months Optus has invested $1.95 million in the Bendigo region, switching on three new sites at Taradale, Heathcote Central and Jackass Flat.
This financial year, Optus has plans to invest more than $500,000 in its mobile network across the region, working with local communities to improve mobile coverage in the region with plans to build a new mobile tower in Ravenswood South, Mr Dietz added.
Local Optus franchisee Cameron Mactier said the completion of the new mobile tower in Jackass Flat will not only offer improved mobile coverage but also provide real choice and competition for residents in the region.
