Orange City Council Hosts Facility Tours for Gov Week

Orange Council

Orange City Council will celebrate Local Government Week by offering guided tours of five Council facilities.

Local Government Week will be held from Monday 29 July to Sunday 4 August and is a chance for Council to highlight the work we do and the services we provide to the community.

The tours will offer an opportunity for members of the public to take a closer look at some of our facilities and learn more about their operation from specialist Council staff.

Orange Mayor Jason Hamling welcomes members of the public to learn more about the work that Council does around town every day.

"Local Government Week aims to help move the conversation beyond roads, rates and rubbish, to the important and far-reaching role Council plays and the wide range of services it provides," Cr Hamling said.

Five guided tours of Council's facilities will take place:

  • Monday 29 July 10am: Tour of Lake Canobolas
  • Tuesday 30 July 10am: Tour of Orange Botanic Gardens
  • Wednesday 31 July 10am: Tour of the Icely Road Water Treatment Plant
  • Thursday 1 August 10am: Tour of Orange Regional Airport
  • Friday 2 August 10am: Tour of Cook Park

The tours will include an informative walk through the site led by a Council staff member, followed by a question-and-answer session.

"Everyone is invited to join in. It's a great opportunity for people who are new to Orange, but also for long-time residents, to rediscover some special places around town and perhaps learn something they didn't know before," Cr Hamling said.

Participants are encouraged to bring walking shoes, a hat and a water bottle with them. All tours are free, but tickets are required.
