Orange Man Arrested on Domestic Violence Warrant

A man has faced court after he was arrested on outstanding warrants related to domestic violence offences.

Officers attached to Central West Police District detected a 33-year-old man allegedly speeding on Huntley Road, Orange, about 8.15am yesterday (Thursday 23 May 2024).

A short time later, police attempted to stop the driver before he allegedly travelled through two residential fences, crashed the vehicle and fled on foot.

Police arrested the man hiding inside a garbage bin.

He was taken to Orange Police Station and charged with:

  • Drive recklessly/furiously or speed/manner dangerous
  • Drive motor vehicle during disqualification – second offence
  • Use etc offensive weapon to prevent lawful detention
  • Hinder or resist police officer in the execution of duty

The man was also charged in relation to outstanding warrants:

  • Reckless grievous bodily harm (DV)
  • Police pursuit- not stop – drive recklessly – second offence
  • Goods in personal custody suspected being stolen
  • Drive conveyance taken without consent of owner
  • Drive motor vehicle during disqualification period – second offence
  • Use class A vehicle displaying misleading etc number plate
  • Unlawfully possess number plates
  • Unlawfully possess thing resembles etc number plate
  • Four counts of breach of bail

The man was refused bail and appeared at Orange Local Court yesterday (Thursday 23 May 2023).

He was formally refused bail to appear at the same court on Thursday 6 June 2024.
