Police have charged a 32-year-old man from Orford with several offences including attempted carjacking following an incident at Mornington on Saturday night.
Police will allege the man was a passenger in a ride share vehicle when he allegedly assaulted the driver and attempted to take the vehicle around 11pm.
The man was arrested at the scene and taken into police custody.
He has been charged with several offences including attempted carjacking and common assault.
He was detained in custody and appeared before the Hobart Magistrates Court yesterday.
The ride share driver was not physically injured during the incident.
