On 24 October 2023, Tajikistan's Border Troops were provided with ambulance vehicles and technical equipment as part of an OSCE project funded by the European Union (EU). The handover ceremony, held in Dushanbe, was presided over by the Deputy Director of the OSCE Secretariat's Conflict Prevention Centre Catherine Fearon, the Commander of the Border Troops, Colonel-General Rajabali Rahmonali, and the Ambassador of the European Union to Tajikistan, H.E. Raimundas Karoblis.
The donation included three 4X4 Toyota Hilux Ambulance vehicles and two plotters for map printing. The ambulance vehicles, specifically adapted for mountainous terrain, are equipped with comprehensive medical supplies to ensure immediate first-aid response in emergencies. The plotters will be used for field operations by Tajik border officers serving along the 1,350-kilometer border with Afghanistan.
The donation is part of the OSCE's project on the "Stabilization of Tajikistan's southern border region with Afghanistan", funded by the EU. The project aims to strengthen the professional capacities of both Tajikistan's Border Troops and the Committee of Emergency Situations and Civil Defence to combat illicit activities in border regions and respond to natural disasters.
