Port Macquarie-Hastings Council is pleased to welcome our returning and newly elected Mayor and councillors, following the declaration of official results by the NSW Electoral Commission on Wednesday.
The new Council will consist of the Mayor and eight councillors, comprising six Independents (IND), one member of the Greens (GRNs), one member of the Labor Party (ALP) and one member of the Libertarian Party (LP).
Results of the referendum have also been declared, with the outcome being yes to favouring a reduction in the number of Port Macquarie-Hastings Councillors from nine to seven consisting of a Mayor and six councillors. This will be effective from the September 2028 Local Government election.
The successful councillors, who will represent our community until September 2028, are;
- Mayor Adam Roberts (IND)
- Cr Lauren Edwards (GRNs)
- Cr Mark Hornshaw (LP)
- Cr Lisa Intemann (IND)
- Cr Chris Kirkman (IND)
- Cr Nik Lipovac (IND)
- Cr Danielle Maltman (IND)
- Cr Rachel Sheppard (IND)
- Cr Hamish Tubman (ALP)
Of those elected there are three new councillors being Cr Hornshaw, Cr Kirkman and Cr Tubman, while Cr Edwards, Cr Intemann, Cr Lipovac, Cr Maltman, Cr Roberts and Cr Sheppard have all been re-elected.
Port Macquarie Hastings Council CEO Dr Clare Allen congratulated the newly elected body who will be sworn into their positions on 17 October.
"On behalf of the Port Macquarie-Hastings community, I want to congratulate our elected members of Council following today's declaration by the NSW Electoral Commission," Dr Allen said.
"I also want to take the opportunity thank all outgoing councillors for their contribution to the community during the previous term.
"The first Ordinary Meeting of the new term will commence at 10am on Monday, 17 October at Port Macquarie-Hastings Council chambers following a brief ceremony to officially swear in our new councillors.
"I look forward to working closely with our new Council over the next four years."
