Outback Stores' New Leadership Boosts First Nations

The Albanese Government has appointed Ms Taryn Lee and Mr Mark Munnich as Directors of the Board of Outback Stores Pty Ltd.

A Yawuru woman from Broome, Ms Lee has led the design and development of social policy and programs, and reforms in health, justice and Aboriginal affairs, promoting self-determination to improve outcomes for First Nations people.

Ms Lee was previously Chairperson of the Victorian Equal Opportunity and Human Rights Commission Board and is currently a Board Director at Parks Victoria and Deputy Chairperson at Nyamba Buru Yawuru.

A descendent of the Yawuru, Yued, and Gunggandji peoples, born and raised on Larrakia Country in Darwin, Mr Munnich has worked in the Aboriginal Community-Controlled sector for over 10 years to improve Aboriginal health and well-being, supporting and advocating for social justice access and equity.

He is currently a Legal Counsel for the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners and Board Director for the North Australian Aboriginal Family Legal Service.

Ms Lee and Mr Munnich will serve three-year terms on a part-time basis.

Outback Stores works to improve access to affordable, healthy food for Indigenous communities, particularly in remote areas, through the provision of food supply, store management and support services in 58 locations across Australia.
