Two new emergency services facilities in the South-West, valued at more than $1.7 million, were officially unveiled on the weekend.
The Australind State Emergency Services unit officially has a new $1.134 million facility, which has three large bays for emergency vehicles and trailers, a-fit-for-purpose training and meeting room, operations room, office and storage facilities, modern kitchen and the latest communications technology.
The new facility was funded by the Emergency Services Levy with a $930,052 contribution and the Shire of Harvey contributed $204,265 to the build.
The Binningup Volunteer Bush Fire Brigade now officially has a new home with its new $592,597 station that has been placed in a more advantageous position, with a quicker route through town and better clearance from adjacent bushland.
The new station includes change rooms, which were lacking in the previous facility, a training and meeting room, operations and office areas, a modern kitchen and recreation area.
The Shire of Harvey contributed $202,858 to the build and the Emergency Services Levy $389,739.
As stated by Emergency Services Minister Francis Logan:
"Congratulations to the Australind SES unit and the Binningup Volunteer Bush Fire Brigade on their new facilities.
"These new facilities are another great example of the Emergency Services Levy supporting local governments to provide the infrastructure they need to assist their emergency services brigades and units.
"The population in the South-West is continuing to grow at a steady pace so these new facilities will make a significant contribution to community safety and will help to attract new members."
