Over Speed Limit In St Kilda School Zone

Police were left severely disappointed when they caught a driver allegedly travelling almost three times the speed limit in a school zone this morning.

Solo Unit officers were conducting speed checks outside a primary school on Brighton Road about 9am when they clocked the driver travelling at 111km/h in the 40km/h zone.

Police intercepted the vehicle, and the driver from Elsternwick undertook a preliminary oral fluid test which allegedly came back positive for methylamphetamine.

The 49-year-old's vehicle was immediately impounded at a cost of $896.10.

She is expected to be charged on summons with dangerous driving, driving under the influence, and driving with a suspended license.
