P-plater Charged After Evade Incident In Burnie

A P-plater has been charged with multiple offences including drink driving after an evade incident at Burnie Yacht Club yesterday.

Police were called to the area about 4pm on Wednesday after reports vehicles had been hooning, and subsequently attempted to intercept a speeding driver.

The driver allegedly evaded police before fleeing the vehicle on foot.

He was quickly arrested, and subjected to a roadside breath test before later returning a blood alcohol result of 0.012.

The 19 year old Cuprona man held a provisional license and was restricted to a blood alcohol limit of zero.

He was charged with drink driving and aggravated evade, and also issued with a 6-month licence disqualification.

He was bailed to appear in the Burnie Magistrates Court in January.
