Pair Charged After 22 Southern Suburbs Burglaries

A man and woman have been charged following 22 burglaries in the Mornington area last week.

Mornington Peninsula and Frankston Crime Investigation Unit detectives launched a joint investigation after the duo allegedly forced entry into a number of commercial businesses between Monday 17 and Thursday 20 April.

The alleged incidents occurred at 22 separate businesses across Mount Martha, Mornington, Mount Eliza, Tyabb, Hastings and Pearcedale.

There were no injuries.

Detectives arrested a 34-year-old Seaford man and a 28-year-old Frankston woman on Friday 21 April.

They have been charged with burglary, theft, criminal damage, theft of motor vehicle, possessing drug of dependence, handling stolen goods, possessing controlled weapon and committing indictable offences whilst on bail.

The Seaford man has been remanded to appear at Frankston Magistrates' Court on 3 May.

The Frankston woman was remanded to appear in court at a later date.

Detectives are continuing to investigate a further 19 commercial burglaries across Keysborough, Mornington and Frankston between 13 March and 6 April.

The incidents are believed to be linked at this stage and investigations are ongoing.
