Pair Charged With 200+ Fraud Offences in Hunter Valley

A man and woman have been charged with a combined 216 offences following an extensive investigation into alleged fraud offences.

In early 2024, Muswellbrook Highway Patrol – assisted by Transport for NSW – commenced an investigation into the fraudulent issuing of vehicle inspection reports at a business in Singleton.

Police will allege in court that the vehicle inspections were completed without the mandatory checks taking place and in the absence of an authorised examiner.

Following extensive inquiries by police, a 56-year-old man and 34-year-old woman were charged with a combined 216 alleged offences earlier today (Thursday 9 January 2025).

The man was charged with 72 counts of breach condition of examiners authority, 62 counts of issue false or misleading inspection report, and 10 counts of knowingly produce false/misleading document.

The woman was charged with 72 counts of permit issue of false or misleading inspection.

They were each issued a court attendance notice to appear before Singleton Local Court on Thursday 27 February 2025.
