Pair Charged With Drug Trafficking in Port Melbourne

A man and a woman have been charged with trafficking drugs, following an investigation into the alleged cultivation and distribution of illicit substances in Melbourne's south.

Following enquiries, officers from the Prahran Divisional Response Unit executed a search warrant at a home on Webb Road, Port Melbourne, just before 6am on Tuesday 25 February.

Police seized approximately 2L of 1,4 Butanediol, as well as drug paraphernalia and items consistent with drug trafficking, including digital scales.

A search of the backyard also allegedly uncovered several mature cannabis plants that were being grown in makeshift tents.

A 36-year-old man and a 34-year-old woman were arrested at the property.

Both were charged with trafficking a commercial quantity and possessing a traffickable quantity of 1,4 Butanediol, as well as possessing, cultivating and trafficking cannabis.

The pair faced Melbourne Magistrates' Court yesterday, where the woman was granted bail and the man was remanded; both to reappear in court on 20 May.
